Fiber Laser Cutting

We offer laser cutting services for carbon steel, stainless steel, galvanized steel, aluminum, copper and brass with thicknesses ranging from 0.02” up to 0.75” depending on the material.

Our fiber laser produces parts within +/- 0.005” accuracy with super high repeatability.

Up to 0.75” Thick Steel

Our 3KW fiber laser can cut carbon steel up to 0.75” thick. Cutting material this thick will lead to a slightly tapered edge which is minimal. Cutting material this thick while still maintaining accuracy depends on heat buildup. We utilize cutting gas assisted cooling features to keep the material cool during cutting.

Cutting Gas Options

We offer three options for cutting gases. We use air cutting as our standard. This gives us high accuracy without having to use more costly gases for cutting. This allows us to cut quickly through a wider variety of thicknesses. Using air will leave a gold, blue or brown tint on the edge of stainless steel where the material has oxidized by the cutting gas.

We also offer Nitrogen cutting for situations where accuracy down to +/- 0.002” is required or if your part is being used in food, water, or clean situations where you need a clean part edge without any oxidization.

Oxygen is used only on carbon steel past 12 Gauge(0.102) as it takes more heat and energy to cut. We must use oxygen to cut steel past 0.25” and copper past 0.125”. This process leaves an oxidized layer on the edge of the part which will be removed after cutting.

The Upper Limits

We can cut sheets and plates up to 60”x120” with a max part size of 59”x119”

Our 3KW fiber laser can cut up to 0.5” stainless steel, 0.5” aluminum and 0.25” copper and brass without compromising part accuracy and no edge taper.

With standard Air Cutting, carbon steel up to 0.25”, stainless steel up to 0.5”, aluminum up to 0.5” and copper/brass up to 0.125” is possible.

With Nitrogen Cutting, carbon steel up to 0.25”, stainless steel up to 0.5”, aluminum up to 0.25” and copper/brass up to 0.125” is possible.

With Oxygen Cutting, carbon steel up to 0.75” and copper up to 0.25” is possible.
